Do
you offer Explosion-Proof submersible pumps?
Yes, Yeomans Series 9100 submersible non-clog pumps are available
with third-party Factory Mutual (FM) listing for Class 1, Groups C &
D hazardous locations.
Does
Yeomans make "stainless steel" pumps and other special materials?
Yes, Yeomans can provide pumps made of stainless steel and a wide variety
of other special metals. Unlike many other manufacturers who have ceased
to offer special materials of construction, Yeomans has the experience
and expertise to meet the special materials requirements of
most any application. Our engineering staff will gladly assist you with
the selection of cost-effective materials that will provide the optimum
performance life and reliability for your particular project.
The following is a brief list of some of the more common materials we
supply:
- Cast Iron - ASTM A48-83, Classes 30 ~ 50
- Ductile Iron - ASTM A536-84, assorted grades
- Meehanite Cast Iron - ASTM A48, Class 50, Meehanite Grade GAH50
- Hi-Chrome Cast Iron - ASTM A532-82, Class 3, Type A (hardness
up to 650 BHN)
- 304 & 316 Stainless Steel - ASTM A743/A743M-84, Grades CF8 &
CF8M
- "Duplex" Stainless Steel (CD4MCu) - ASTM A890/A890M (UNS No. J93370)
- Alloy 20 - ASTM A743/A743M-84, Grade CN-7M
- Hastelloy-B - ASTM A494-N-12M
- Navy "G" Bronze - ASTM B584-85a (UNS No. C90300)
Many additional materials are available. Please feel free to contact us
to discuss your specific requirements. When contacting us, please provide
the following applications information:
- Description of the pumped liquid, including pumping temperature range
and pH levels
- Type, size and percentage of solids in the liquid
- Details about any corrosives or other chemicals in the pumped liquid
- Pump duty cycle / frequency of operation
What
types of sealing options can Yeomans supply?
For Yeomans dry-pit pumps, the standard sealing method is the packed stuffing
box with either grease lubrication or water flush connections. As an option,
Yeomans can furnish a wide variety of commercially available mechanical
seals to meet the customer's specific requirements. There are normally
several "pros and cons" for each type of seal; therefore, we urge you
to contact us for recommendations pertaining to your particular application.
When contacting us, please provide the following applications information:
- Description of the pumped liquid, including pumping temperature range
and pH levels
- Type, size and percentage of solids in the liquid
- Details about any corrosives or other chemicals in the pumped liquid
- Details about availability of external sealing/flush water supply
Yeomans submersible pumps are supplied with Self-Sintered
Silicon Carbide Graphite Composite (SSC-GC) mechanical seals. This state-of-the
art material, combined with the superior design of the seal system,
provides the customer with unparalleled seal performance and reliability.

Carbide Mechanical Seal Report
Does
Yeomans offer a software program for pump sizing and selection?
Yes!
Yeomans offers two (2) software systems:
PumpfinderPlus® v8
The PumpfinderPlus software is designed for installation and operation
on the user's PC. The pump curves include a drop-down menu for accessing
catalog documents applicable to the pump selection (e.g. specifications,
drawings, data sheets).
ePump-Flo
The
ePumpFlo system provides online pump selection and sizing without the
need to download or install any software. Like PumpfinderPlus, the pump
curves include a drop-down menu for accessing catalog documents applicable
to the pump selection.
Can Yeomans wet-pit submersible pumps
be operated in a non-submerged or partially-submerged condition?
A simple "yes" or "no" answer to this question would be misleading
at best. There are many considerations that must be evaluated in order
to determine the minimum submergence requirements. In addition to motor
cooling considerations, there are important hydraulic issues that should
be evaluated. To help address these issues, we have prepared the following
technical paper which we hope will be of interest to you: Submersible
Pumps - Minimum Submergence Considerations.
I'm
not familiar with your SHONE® Pneumatic Ejectors. What's
so special about them?
The SHONE Pneumatic Ejector was invented by Sir Isaac Shone and first
installed in the British Houses of Parliament in 1870. Due to the near
perfection of the original design, no radical improvements or changes
have been required to the present day. The first SHONE system in the United
States was installed in 1889 at the Auditorium Theater Building (now part
of Roosevelt University) in Chicago, Illinois. This duplex system is still
in operation today, more than 100 years later, and has required only minimal
maintenance. Since that time, literally thousands of SHONE systems have
been installed throughout the US and overseas for industrial, commercial,
municipal and governmental clients.
The simple design of the SHONE pneumatically operated system eliminates
the electric motors, controls, accessories and periodic maintenance commonly
associated with conventional pumping systems. They are particularly well-suited
for sites with plant-air available, thereby eliminating the need for a
dedicated compressor system. The SHONE can't be beat for the handling
of large solids and air-entrained liquids such as sewage and scum. The
unparalleled performance and reliability of the SHONE system allows Yeomans
Pump to provide an exclusive 25 year warrranty!
